Since it has 2 reactants, why is respiration considered a decomposition reaction?

Respiration is known as the decomposition reaction because in respiration glucose molecules are decomposed into simple form of carbon dioxide and water molecules . Decomposition reaction is just opposite of combination reaction. Heat energy may be released from cells during respiration..
