There are two main types of Asexual reproduction / -

  • Binary Fission ( Ex - Amoeba )

  • Budding ( Ex - Hydra )

Prokaryotes ( Archaea and Bacteria ) reproduce asexually through binary fission , in which the parent organism divides in two to produce two genetically identical daughter organisms .

Budding is a type of asexual reproduction in which a new organism develops from an outgrowth or bud due to cell division at one particular site . The small bulb - like projection coming out from the yeast cell is called a bud .

In fission (or binary fission), a parent separates into two or more individuals of about equal size. This type of reproduction is common among single-celled organisms including bacteria, archaea, and unicellular eukaryotes, such as protists and some fungi.
