x + 3y = 6 --------- ( i )

2x - 3y = 12 --------- ( ii )

Now , ( i ) × 1 + ( ii ) × 1 , we get ,

x + 3y = 6

2x - 3y = 12

______________

x + 2x = 6 + 12

3x = 18

x = 18 / 3

x = 6

•°• The value of x is 6

And therefore , putting the value of x = 6 in equation no ( i )

x + 3y = 6

6 + 3y = 6

3y = 6 - 6

3y = 0

y = 0 / 3

y = 0

•°• The value of y is 0.

Verification :-

( i ) x + 3y = 6 + 3 × 0 = 6 + 0 = 6 [ Proved ]

( ii ) 2x - 3y = 2 × 6 - 3 × 0 = 12 - 0 = 12 [ Proved ]
