Explanation:
The Naga society is classified into different categories based on power and prestige. The main parameters of stratifying the society into different groups are religion, politics, business, intellectual, professional and bureaucratic. The inequality have been there since time immemorial. The class division is a glaring result of colonial expansion in North east India. There is a famous book on Naga society called ‘social stratification in Naga society’ written by Athungo Ovungo which depicts how the Naga society preferred to perpetuate the stratifications through ages.
