x/10 + y/5 +1 = 15
x/10 + y/5 = 15-1
x/10 + y/5 = 14----- (1)

x/8 + y/6 - 1 = 14
x/8 + y/6 = 14 + 1
x/8 + y/6 = 15-------(2)

x/10 + y/5 = 14 ]×1/6
x/8 + y/6 = 15 ]×1/5

x/60 + y/30 = 14/6------ (1)
x/40 + y/30 = 3-----------(2)
Subtract equation (2) from (1)
x/60 - x/40 = 14/6 - 3
(2x - 3x)/120 = (14 - 18)/6
-x/120 = -4/6
cut the minus sign on both sides
x/120 = 4/6
x = (4×120)/6
x = 80

Put the value of x in equation (1)
x/10 + y/5 = 14
80/10 + y/5 = 14
8 + y/5 = 14
y/5 = 14 - 8
y/5 = 6
y = 6×5
y = 30
