1/x-3+1/x-7=1/x-1+1/x-9

1/x+(-3-7)=1/x+(-1-9)

1/x+(-10)=1/x+(-10)

1-10x/x = 1-10x/x

1-10x =1-10x

1-1=0

0=0

x = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

1/(x - 3) + 1/(x-7) = 1/(x - 1) + 1/(x - 9)

⇒ [(x - 7) + (x - 3)]/(x^2 - 10x + 21) = (2x -10)/(x^2 - 10x + 9)

⇒ (2x -10)/(x^2 - 10x + 21) = (2x -10)/(x^2 - 10x + 9)

⇒ (2x -10) (x^2 - 10x + 9) = (2x -10) (x^2 - 10x + 21)

⇒ (2x -10) (x^2 - 10x) + (2x - 10)9 = (2x - 10) (x^2 - 10x) + (2x-10)21

by cancelling, (2x -10)  and (x^2 - 10x) on both sides, we get;

⇒ 18x - 90 = 42x - 210

⇒ 24x = 120

⇒ x = 120/24

⇒ x = 5

Thus, the value of x is 5.
