Ans 13 - Two straight paths are represented by the lines

Write both equations in the form y = mx + c.

1)  7x - 5y = 3

it can be written as:

y = (7x - 3) / 5

or y = 7/5 x - 3/5

2) 14x -10y = 5

y = (14x - 5)/10

or y = 7/5 x - 1/2

Both lines have same gradient.

m = 7/5

it implies that they are the parallel lines and they don't cross each other.

Ans 14: equations will have infinite no. of solution when

a1 / a2  = b1 / b2  = c1 / c2

Let's find the values from above equations

a1 = k,     b1 = 3,   c1 = -(k-3)

a2 = 12,   b2= k,   c2= -k

These values must satisfy to have infinite no of solution.

k/12  = 3/k  = (k-3)/k

solve k/12 = 3/k and then solve 3/k = (k-3)/k

after solving this -  you'll get k=6.

Hope it helps you!
