Solution

1 Add 7 to both sides

2(3x+1)=13+7

2 Simplify 13+7 to 20

2(3x+1)=20

Divide both sides by 2

3x+1=20 /

Simplify 20 / 2 to 10

3x+1=10

Subtract 1 from both sides

3x=10−1

Simplify 10−1 to 9

3x=9
Divide both sides by 3

x=9 / 3

Simplify 9 / 3 to 3

x=3
