Given that,

254x + 309y = - 55  ------ (i)

309x + 254y = 55. -------- (ii)

To find,

The value of x & y.

Solution,

Now, add both the equation (i) & (ii)

We get,

563x + 563 y = (-55 + 55) = 0563x+563y=(−55+55)=0

Now,

563x = -563 y.563x=−563y.

Now cancel 563 both the sides.

Then,

x = -y  &  x+y = 0.

Now,  Substitute x value in any one equation,

Then,

254(-y) + 309y = -55254(−y)+309y=−55

55 y = -55.55y=−55.

⇒ y= \frac{-55}{55} = -1y=55−55=−1

We know that,

x + y = 0.        ( Substituting y value)

x - 1 = 0.

Then, x = 1.

Therefore  x is 1, & y is -1.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let

254x + 309y = -55 ---------> 1

309x + 254y = 55  --------->  2

1 + 2

= 563x + 563y = 0

 563 (x + y) = 0

x+y = 0/563

x+y = 0 -----------> 3

1 - 2

= -55x + 55y = 110

 -55 (x-y) = 110

 x - y = 110 / -55

x - y = -2 -----------> 4

substituting both 3 and 4

2x = -2

x = -1

substitute x in 3

-1 + y =0

y = 1

x = - 1

y =  1
