Hi ,

3x + 2y = 8 ---( 1 )

2x + y = 5

y = 5 - 2x ------( 2 )

Put y value in equation ( 1 ),

3x + 2( 5 - 2x ) = 8

3x + 10 - 4x = 8

-x = 8 - 10

-x = -2

x = 2

Substitute x = 2 in equation ( 2 ),

y = 5 - 2 × 2

y = 5 - 4

y = 1

Therefore ,

x = 2 and y = 1

I hope this helps you.

3x + 2y = 8  (i)
2x + y = 5    (ii)

Multiplying eq. (ii) by 2, we obtain
4x + 2y = 10 (iii)

By using elimination method.....
Subtracting eq. (i) from eq. (iii), we obtain
                4x   +    2y   =    10
                3x   +    2y   =      8
              -             -            -
----------------------------------------------------------
                 x               =       2

Therefore, x = 2.
Putting x=2 in eq. (ii), we obtain
4 + y = 5
Therefore, y = 1

Hence,  x =2 and y =1.
