Solve 5x=y and 2x+y=7 by substitution method

5x=y

x=y/5......................(1)

2x+y=7....................(2)

put the value of x in equation (2)

2(y/5)+y=7

2y/5+y=7

(2y+5y)/5=7

7y/5=7

7y=7*5

7y=35

y=35/7

y=5

put the value of y in equation (1)

x=y/5

x=5/5

x=1

Hence,

x=1

y=5

X should be 1 and y should be 5.
