Answer:

x =2 & y = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

eq------1

5x+2y=16

eq------2

7x-4y=2

from eq 2 we have

x=(4y+2)/7

placing value of 3 in eq 1

we get

20y/7+10/7 +2y=16

on takin lcm

we get

20y/7+10/7 +14y/7 = 16

34y + 10 = 112

34y=112-10

34y=102

y=102/34

y=3

placing this value of y in eq 1

5x+6=16

5x = 10

x = 2
