Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the 2 zeroes of this polynomial be x and y.

According to the qn,(one of the zero is double of the other).

=> x=2y.

Here in this quadratic polynomial,

a=1, b=2k-1, c=k^2+2

1. Sum of zeroes= x+y= -b/a

=> 2y+y= -(2k-1)/1

=> 3y= 1-2k

=> y= 1-2k/3......... (i)

2. Product of zeroes= xy= c/a

=> 2y*y= k^2+2

=> 2y^2=K^2+2

(Substitute the value of y from i in this case)

=> 2 [(1-2k/3)]^2= k^2+2

=> 2(1+4k^2-4k/9)= k^2+2

=> 2+8k^2-8k= 9k^2+18

=> 9k^2-8k^2+18-2+8k=0

=> k^2+8k+16=0

BY FACTORISING, WE GET,

K=-4.........
