As we know that,

Hypotenuse (h) = 5 cm
Breadth (b) = 3 cm

Now,

 =  >  {h}^{2}  \:  =  {p}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}
 =  >  {5}^{2}  =  {p}^{2}  +  {3}^{2}

 =  > 25 =  {p}^{2}   + 9

 =  > 25 - 9 =  {p}^{2}

 =  > 16 \: \:  =   {p}^{2}

 =  >  \sqrt{16}  \:  =  \:  \: p

 =  >  \: p \:  \:  = 4 \: cm \:

As we know that, Hypotenuse is the longest side in the right angles triangle and it is equal to the sum of other two sides. However, If we compare Hypotenuse with a single side of right angled triangle then surely it will be greater than it.
