The area of a triangle whose base and corresponding altitude are 16 cm and 7 cm respectively is equal to the area of a right triangle in which one of the sides containing the right angle is 14 cm .Find the area of the triangle .

Answer:

area of triangle = 1/2 × base × height

area of 1st triangle=area of 2nd triangle

1/2 × b × h=1/2 × B × H

b×h=B×H

16×7=B×14

112=B×14

112/14=B

B=8

base of 2nd triangle is 8 cm.
