bx + ay = 4a+b ----------------------(ii)
Multiply (i) with a and (ii) with b
a²x + aby = a²-ab ------------(iii)
b²x + aby = 4ab+b² ------------(iv)
Subtract (iv) from (iii)
(a²-b²)x = a²-ab-4ab-b²
x = a² - 5ab - b²
a² - b²
Multiply (i) with b and (ii) with a
abx + b²y = ab-b² ----------------(v)
abx + a²y = 4a²+ab -----------------(vi)
Subtract (vi) from (v)
(b²-a²)y = -b²-4a²
y = -(b²+4a²)
b²-a²
