Extend 6 m to complete the rectangle (refer the figure)

Since the rectangle is completed, the new length for the lower rectangle would be 6 + 2 = 8m
Breadth would remain the same, that is, 2 m

For the upper rectangle, length = 5 m and breadth = 2m

So the area of the figure = sum of areas of the rectangle

Area of first rectangle = 5 × 2 = 10 m²

Area of second rectangle = 8 × 2 = 16 m²

=> total area = 10 + 16 = 26 m²

Answer :- 26 m²

Answer:

26 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

See attachment:

Divide the figure into 2 rectangles, A and B

Find the area of A:

Area = Length x Breadth

Area = 2 x 5 = 10 cm²

Find the area of B:

Length = 6 + 2 = 8 cm

Area = Length x Breadth

Area = 8 x 2 = 16 cm²

Find the area of the figure:

Area of the figure = Area of A + Area of B

Area of the figure = 10 + 16 = 26 cm²

Answer:  26 cm²
