according to question, incident light parallel to BC ,
now,
you see incident light and angle of prism form right angle triangle .
let incident AB at P and strike AC at Q
then, ∆ PAQ ,
angle PAQ + angle APQ +angle AQP =180°
60° + 90° + angle AQP = 180°
angle AQP = 30°
so, incident angle = (90° -30°) = 60°
and refracted angle = 90°
now,
use formula,
U1sin¢ = U2sin@
U1sin60° =1 × sin90°
U1{√3/2} = 1 × 1 = 1
U1 = 2/√3
hence refractive index of prism = 2/√3
