To solve such kind of exponential equations, you have to make the bases same on the both sides of the equation, i.e., on the left side there is already base 2, and you have to write 32 in terms of powers of 2 on the right side, i.e., write '32' as 2 raised to the power of 5.

2^{x} = 2^{5}            [32 can also be written as 2^{5}. ]
x = 5
Here is the solution! 
So, the trick is to make the bases same on the both sides. Here, base on the left side of the equation is 2. On the right side, the base is 32. I have made the bases same on both sides. Now, on the left side it is 2, and on the right side also the base is 2. Now, the bases are already the same. Then, I have not written the bases and I have written the exponents, since there are same now.
