or, 6x - 9 + 8x^2 - 12x = 8x

or, 8x^2 - 14x - 9 =0

or, 8x^2- (4-18)x - 9 =0

or, 8x^2- 4x + 18x - 9 =0

or, 4x(2x - 1) +9(2x - 1) = 0

or, (2x - 1) (4x +9) = 0

so either x = 1/2

or, x = -9/4
