Answer:

x = 7 + 4√3/7 - 4√3

Given x y = 1

x² + y² = ?

x =  7 + 4√3/7 - 4√3

Since x y = 1, so

y =  1/x = 7 - 4√3/7 + 4√3

X + y = x + 1/x =  7 + 4√3/7 - 4√3 + 7 - 4√3/7 + 4√3

On solving, you can put the value in the equation,

x² + y² = x² + ( 1/x)² = (x + 1/x)² - 2

ans get the answer.
