solve the following simultaneous equation by adding or subtracting the equations x-14=y; 2x-4y=16​

Answer:

x-y = 14 --equation 1

2x-4y = 16 -- equation 2

x-y-2x+4y = 14-16

-x+3y = -2

x = 3y+2

put X = 3y + 2 in equation one

3y+2-y = 14

2y = 12

y = 6

therfore X = 3×6+2

= 20

= 2x-4y=16........(2)

(1)×2 =2x-2y=28......(3)

(3)-(2) =

2x+2y= 28 - 2x-4y= 16

= y= 6 and x= 20
