2x + 3y = 61 •••> eqn.2

multiply eqn. 1 by 2 & eqn. 2 by 3

6x - 10y = 12 •••> eqn.3

6x + 9y = 183 •••> eqn.4

now subtract , eqn. 3 - eqn. 4 u'll get

6x - 10y = 12

- 6x - 9y = - 183

-19y = - 171

y = 171 / 19

♧ y = 9

substitute y = 9 in eqn. 1 u'll get

3x - 5(9) = 6

3x - 45 = 6

3x = 45 + 6

3x = 51

x = 51 / 3

♧ x = 17

so values of x = 17 & y = 9
