Answér :

x = -8 , y = -5

Solution :

Here ,

The given equations are ;

-x + 4y = -12 -------(1)

x + 2y = -18 ---------(2)

Now ,

Adding eq-(1) and (2) , we get ;

=> -x + 4y + x + 2y = -12 + (-18)

=> 4y + 2y = -12 - 18

=> 6y = -30

=> y = -30/6

=> y = -5

Now ,

Putting y = -5 in the eq-(2) , we get ;

=> x + 2y = -18

=> x + 2•(-5) = -18

=> x - 10 = -18

=> x = -18 + 10

=> x = -8

Hence ,

x = -8 , y = -5
