Let us work on LHS and RHS separately.

LHS= y-7/ 1- (2y + 1).

Now LHS= y-7 ÷ [ 1- 2y - 1 ]

               = y-7 ÷ (-2y)

This is equal to RHS = 2/3.

Therefore, y-7÷ (-2y) = 2/3

            ⇒  y- 7 = -4y/3

            ⇒ y + 4y/3 = 7

            ⇒ 7y/3 = 7

             ⇒ y/3= 1

            ⇒ y= 3
