Krishtka, The grandmother, is illiterate and does not know how to read and write. She, However had a great desire to know the story of the novel, Kashi Yatre. One day, when thr Grand daughter was not at home, she had the next edition of the novel in her hands and she was rubbing her hands over the text thinking that her this action would let her know the story, but as it is well known, You can lead a camel to a well, but can't make him drink, she, despite of having the text with her, could not read it. She was desperate. She waited eagerly for her grand daughter, who had gone to attend a marriage in nearby village, to return and read for her.
That was the day, when she rose to the occasion and decieded to learn Kannad Alphabets. The story depicts the EPIC power of determination. Had she not had a desire, she would have been illiterate.
