Some plants have deep red, violet or brown leaves. Do these leaves also carry out photosynthesis? Explain. Name few such plants.​

Yes, those plants which have deep red, violet or brown leaves also carry out the process of photosynthesis.

We know that chlorophyll is needed for photosynthesis. If the colour of a leaf is not green, it does not mean that it does not contain chlorophyll. The large amount of red, violet or brown pigment masks the green colour of chlorophyll in such leaves, so green colour is not seen in such leaves.

A few such plants are : Smokebush, poinsettia etc.
