Both believe in karma and reincarnation, as well as enlightenment as a way to escape the cycle of suffering brought by reincarnation into this, flawed life.

Buddhism and Jainism are two ancient Indian religions that developed in Magadha (Bihar region) and continue to thrive in the modern times.

(1) The source of both the religion is vedic religion and both and indebted to Upanishads.

(2) Both, the religions came as a sort of reform of Hindu religion.

(3) Ahimsa is the prominent principle of both the religions.

(4) Both of them were opposed to animal sacrifices.

(5) Both have accepted the theories of Karma rebirth and Moksha.
