Mrs.Fitzgerald acting as Mrs. Pearson says this to Cyril.
Mrs. Fitzgerald who was acting as Mrs. Pearson tells George Pearson that people at the club called him "Pompy-ompy Pearson". This was initially discarded bt Mr. Pearson but on questioning Cyril, he found out that it was indeed, the truth. This hurt Mr. Pearson's feelings and revealing the truth to him, hurt Cyril's.
