My favorite leader is Mahatma Gandhi. He is called the ‘Father of my Nation’. He was born on 2nd October, 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. His full name is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. His father, Karamchand was Divan of Rajkot. His mother Putlibai was a simple and religious lady. Gandhi completed his early education at Rajkot. He married to Kasturba. Then he went to England. He returned to India as barrister. He went to South Africa and did practice as a lawyer. He fought for the rights of the Indians living there. He left his practice and came back to India. He had worked for the freedom of India. He went to jail several times. He believed in truth and non-violence. He worked for religious unity and upliftment of untouchables. He started movements like “Satyagrah”, “Non-cooperation” and “Quit India movement” etc. He won freedom for India from the British rule on 15 August 1947.

M.K. Gandhi or Mohan Dass Karamchand Gandhi is known as the father of India as the people called him Baapu Ji. He is my favorite leader among all the leaders of the Independence struggle of India. He was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar a coastal town of Gujarat.
