Pollution is a great cause of damage to our environment. We put in a great effort to keep our homes clean but don’t care about the outside world.
We should always dispose off things properly, like throwing things in the garbage bin or recycling them. We can easily make this world a better place by making a little effort. Once we learn what damage pollution is doing to our environment, we will surely work towards doing things that are environment-friendly and leave our bad habits.
There are four types of pollution. Let us see what they are.
Noise pollution: People who live near busy roads, airports, industries and city centres often have to endure noise pollution.
Musicians also suffer ear problems due to being constantly exposed to high volume of noise. People, especially youngsters, who listen to music through headphones are also likely to suffer hearing problems. The level of noise in the last century has increased a lot due to use of more and more machines, and an increase in population.
Stress, sleeplessness, mental health issues and other aliments and physical conditions result from our exposure to noise pollution. And not only us, but wildlife too gets affected by noise and many wild animals and birds are leaving their natural habitats due to urbanisation and moving into newer areas or slowly becoming extinct.
Air pollution: Air pollution is caused by there being many harmful chemicals in the air. This has led to holes in the ozone layer, an overall warming of the atmosphere, incidents of acid rain, and many other things. Acid rain can harm our skin and hair and it also harms plants. It even corrodes buildings.
Smoke from industries, cars, machines and other such things pollute the air.
Water pollution: This is again something that is the result of human activities. We go to the beach to have fun, we eat chips or ice cream and throw the wrappers in the water, which pollutes the sea. The waste water of industries and homes, which contains a lot of harmful chemicals that are highly dangerous for both marine plants and animals, are also disposed in lakes, rivers and seas.
Land pollution: Last, but not least, is land pollution. It has made living conditions extremely dangerous for all plants and animals on earth. Not only is the land becoming dirty due to our activities, but we are also cutting down trees and forests that is leading to loss of habitat and shelters of animals and they are becoming endangered.
Let us pledge to stop and reduce all kinds of pollution so that we can make our world a better and safer place to live for all plants and animals.
