Given :

✏ Initial velocity of car = zero

✏ Final velocity of car = 20mps

✏ Time interval = 5sec

To Find :

✏ Acceleration of car

Solution :

✏ Acceleration is defined as ratio of change in velocity to the time interval.

✏ Acceleration is a vector quantity.

✏ Acceleration can be positive, negative and zero.

✏ Velocity is also a vector quantity.

\dashrightarrow\sf\:a=\dfrac{v-u}{t}\\ \\ \dashrightarrow\sf\:a=\dfrac{20-0}{5}\\ \\ \dashrightarrow\:\boxed{\sf{\pink{\large{a=4\:ms^{-2}}}}}

____________________________

  • a denotes acceleration
  • v denotes final velocity
  • u denotes initial velocity
  • t denotes time

Initial velocity of the car, u= 0m/s ( why? Because it was at rest )
Final velocity of the car, v= 20m/s ( why? Because the car starts moving )
Time taken, t= 5s

Now,
Acceleration,a = v-u/t
=> a = 20 - 0/ 5
=> a = 4m/s
