sperm binds to a sperm receptor on zona pellucida and this leads to initiation of acrosomal reaction.

acrosin facilitate the penetration of sperm through zona pellucida


fusion of sperm and memberane of secondary oocyte (SYNGAMY)

Phagocytosis of sperm by the secondary oocyte.

completation of meiosis 2 of secondary oocyte during phagocytosis to form ovam and simultaneously releases second polar body


it is followed by plasmogamy , karyogamy , and amphimixis
