  • When the central government agrees to share some of its powers with the many provincial/state governments, it is called a federal system of government.
  • State governments must follow the federal laws that are issued and implemented by the central government.
  • All the states are the connective ancillary of the central government.
  • They have some power of freedom in implementing and maintaining law and order in their respective state.  
  • Sovereignty is shared between the state and the center.
