1)elected representatives: in a democracy the final decision making power must rest with those elected by the people.only they should make laws and decide the policies of the government.
2)free and fair elections :a democracy must be based on a free and fair election voters should be allowed to vote freely and votes should be counted honestly.
3) Right to contest election :in a democracy all adults who fullfil the conditions should be counted honestly.
4)universal suffrage:in a democracy all adults are given the right to vote and each vote has one value
5)freedom of culture and religion :democracy allows people to follow any religion openly and freely and speak their on language.
6)individual freedoms :democracy does not impose any restrictions on individual freedom .for example citizens can travel anywhere in the country have choice of residence,seek education anywhere etc.
