it is a law of thermodynamics established by French chemist Francois - Marie Raolt in 1887 .8 states that the partial vapour pressure of each component of an ideal mixture of liquid is equal to the vapour pressure of the pure component X its more fraction in the mixture in the other words it is stated as the relative lowering of vapour pressure of a dilute solution containing nonviolence solute is equal to the mole fraction of solute in the solutions .
