state reasons for the statements mentioned below: 1. a mixture of camphor and salt can be seperated using sublimation 2. a cotton plug is used to cover open end of inverted funnel during sublimation?

1.In the mixture of camphor and salt

Camphor is a sublime whereas salt is not

SUBLIMATION = It is a process of separation of two substances in which one is sublime and other is not.

So, by sublimation camphor gets vaporised and salt remain in a container.

So, by this process both of them gets separated..

2.a cotton plug is used to cover open end of inverted funnel during sublimation because sublime gets vaporise and get free into air. So, to prevent it cotton plug is used so that sublime gets deposited on the walls of the container
