diamond is hard and a poor conductor of electricity but graphite is very soft and good conductor of electricity. but they both are the allotropes of carbon.

Diamond and Graphite are the amorphous allotropic forms of carbon.
allotropes referred to the different forms of elements.
In diamond C-C bonds are formed as CC bonds are so strong and makes it one of the strongest material in the world.
we can see SP3 hybridization in diamond.
Graphite;
in graphite we see SP2 hybridization in the carbon atoms.
pencil leads are made of Graphite.
the interaction between the carbonlayers in the graphite was not enough strong this make when we write on with pencil in a sheet of paper the attraction between the Layers brokes thus graphite layers leaves on paper. as they does not stick to the paper so strong so they can be easily erasable by a eraiser.
hope it helps you......,
