Eyelid is a thin layer of skin which protects the eyes and protect it from all the harmful material which can get into the eyes the eye contains a muscle that retracts the eyelid to open either voluntary or involuntary human eye contains no of eyelashes that protects eye from getting dust and all other harmful things foreign bodies etc.

The functions of eyelids is to protect eyes from any objects entering into it.Eyelids also shut out light when not required.
