---------------
here are some of the basic functions of stomach.
✯ it helps in the storage of food. there is a gastric sphincter which regulates the movement of food from there. the absorption and assimilation starts whenever the body is in the need.
✯ same thing also goes with the gastric enzymes. they help in breaking down of complex food molecule into smaller one or allow a reaction to happen when the body needs it to happen. there are three gastric glands in our stomach. we do not have to eat continuously in order to be alive.
✯ Production of HCL helps in killing pathogens which come along with food and pepsin helps in digestion of proteins. furthermore, mucous protects the stomach walls from secretions of HCL.
☕ HCL=> directly acts on pathogens.
☕ Pepsin=> activation occurs because of HCL. binds with protein first, such that it fits in the active site of the enzyme and the allosteric site gets blocked.conformational change helps in breaking up of food molecule.

1.Digestion-In the human digestive system, a bolus (a small rounded mass of chewed up food) enters the stomach through the oesophagus via the lower oesophageal sphincter. The stomach releases proteases (protein-digesting enzymes such as pepsin) and hydrochloric acid, which kills or inhibits bacteria and provides the acidic pH of 2 for the proteases to work.
2.Absorption-
Although the absorption in the human digestive system is mainly a function of the small intestine, some absorption of certain small molecules nevertheless does occur in the stomach through its lining.
3.Control of secretion and motility-
The movement and the flow of chemicals into the stomach are controlled by both the autonomic nervous system and by the various digestive hormones of the digestive system.
