Two uses of solar cells:

  1. They do not require maintenance and last over a long period of time at zero running cost.
  2. They are very useful for remote, inaccessible and isolated places where electric power lines cannot be laid.

Which current solar cells produces?

\tt\impliesSolar cell produces d.c. (direct current).

Disadvantage of solar cells

  • Include they are still costly and only work when the Sun is shining, not on cloudy days, not when it's raining, and not at night .

  • The installment cost of such a large number of solar cells is high will all can't afford, eventhough it's maintenance cost is low.

  • Another disadvantage is that it doesn't work in foggy days when clouds are overhead.

  • These are probably the only disadvantage of solar cells.
