HELLO THERE!
Two characteristics of the Chemical reaction when Dilute Sulphuric Acid is Poured over Pure Zinc:
Type of Reaction: Displacement Reaction.
Chemical Equation: Zn + H₂SO₄ -----> ZnSO₄ + H₂
Products: Zinc Sulphate Solution and Hydrogen gas.
Test for the gas evolved:
1. The gas evolved burns with a pale blue flame in air.
2. The gas evolved burns with a pop sound when a matchstick is brought near it.
3. The gas evolved forms tiny droplets of water when exposed to air.
(2H₂ + O₂ ----> 2H₂O)
Property of Sulphuric acid in the reaction:
Acidic Property is shown (because all acids, in their dilute form {except HNO₃}, reacts with pure and active metals to liberate hydrogen gas).
