Story: What you look for is within you
An old man lived in the village. He was one of the most unfortunate people in the world. He was always gloomy, constantly complained and always was in a bad mood. He created the feeling of unhappiness in others. The whole village was tired of him.
But one day, when he got eighty years old, an incredible thing happened. Instantly everyone heard the rumour: “The Old Man is happy today. He doesn’t complain about anything, he smiles, and even his face is brightened up”. The whole village gathered together.
The old man was asked: "What happened to you?"
"Nothing special." He answered. "Eighty years I’ve been chasing happiness, and it was useless. And then I decided to live without happiness and just enjoy life. That is why I am happy now."
What you look for is within you
There are two Sanskrit words and phrases that sum up our existence on Earth. One is the word SOHAM. It means I am that. The other is On tat sat. It means 'You art thou'.
I am the powerhouse of knowledge, wisdom and perfection. I have to just tap the power that rests within me.
When the dacoit Ratnakar could not find any kith or kin to share his burden of sin he became meditation. Meditation led to self realization and this eventually helped him to evolve into the great sage Valmiki. The great Valmiki who composed the Ramayana.
Similar is the story of Lord Buddha. His ultimate enlightenment came when he discovered himself and the God within him.
For us too we have the same potential. The only problem is we neither have the confidence nor the patience to look inside us. We have to self search then only can we evolve to perfection.
