Suez Canal started functioning on 17 November 1869.

Benefits obtained by India :

The canal reduces the distance by approx. 7000 km between Europe and Indian.
The reduced distance has led to faster transportation of good.
It also increased employment opportunities since due to reduced distance there was increase in trade.
