Internodes are the spaces between the nodes of a plant. A node is a single focal point from which different lateral parts of a plant grow out. For example, branches, flowers, buds and leaves grow from nodes on the main trunk or stem of the plant.

Internode lengths in plants are determined by various environmental factors and influences and can be changed through appropriate catalytic methods in the laboratory.

Sugarcane generally has an internode length of a few metres while fenugreek has a length of only a few centimetres. On an average, sugarcane internodes are at a distance of 2000mm – 3000mm while fenugreek internodes are at a distance of 20cm – 30cm.

Internode is the distance between two nodes of the plant. The stems is basically divided into the nodes and the internodes. The nodes hold one or more leaves, and various other things as buds amd flower which can grow into branches like the leaves, conifer cones, or inflorescences of the flower. Adventitious roots may also be produced from the nodes. The internodes distance one node from another.
