Everyone is aware of the real ending of Christmas Carol, in which originally Scrooge ends up changing his personality. He isn't a miser anymore and he becomes loving, caring and a second father to Tiny Tim.

If I was going to change the ending for A Christmas Carol, I would show that Scrooge would end up dying alone. That he would be a lonely man who would end up looking back at his life and his bad decisions in life.
