This poem talks about the damage brought upon by the cutting down of the beautiful trees that were planted once upon a time to give shade to people.
The poet says that he once witnessed a very tragic sight from Mysore to Ooty.He saw trees be mercilessely and uses very strong adjectives to describe the condition of the trees.
The poet describes the scene as if was tge battlefield of the injured and the dead have been left to the mercilessly on the sun.The poet knows that many years ago Kings and kind people had thoughtfully planted to give shaped to people,to the travellers who gad walk long distance.
