Summary of Ch : Beehive
The story opens with Margie writing in her diary about an old book that Tommy had found. Margie was reminded of her grandfather who had once talked about his grandfather who went to an actual school where the students were taught by human teachers.
However, Margie and Tommy lived in the future world,in the year 2157 where education was completely computerized. They did not go to schools. Instead, they had a special study room where a computer taught them.
The computer teacher was programmed and adjusted according to the needs of each child. Now and then the computer teacher developed faults which were fixed by a County Inspector. Both Tommy and Margie wondered at the book found by Tommy in his attic. They wondered at it as they read books on the screen of their computer teacher. Margie felt that the computer teacher was boring; she disliked the mechanical teaching and learning. She also wondered how much fun it would be studying in a school. Studying in a fun way, with other children and that too from a human teacher.

Explanation:
The fun they had is a story written by Isaac Asimov. The story is set in the future, precisely in the year 2157. It is about a time when paper books do not exist. Everything happens on the screen. And, the entire idea of school is different. For those children, school means going in the schoolroom(which is next to their bedroom) 'switching on the teacher', the mechanical teacher, listening to her explaining things in the same monotonous voice, submitting homework which is written in a punch code and getting the marks immediately. The two kids in the story are Margie and Tommy. One day Tommy finds a book. Nat a normal book, a telebook which moves on its own but a book with pages made of paper. The two read the book, fight a little on it and they understand the ancient school system (meaning the schools we lucky students would have been in if it wasn't for this horrible lockdown). The story ends with Margie thinking while the mechanical teacher is teaching her fractions that hoe the kids must have loved it in the old days. Sitting together, making fun of teachers(no offence ), doing homework together, laughing, learning and also the teachers were more like friends and parents, they were sensitive HUMAN BEINGS. Margie is thinking about the FUN THEY HAD(The fun we are having).
