In the story there is a character named Bepin Choudhury , on whom a prank was pulled by his school friend named Chunni Lal.

Chunni Lal was not doing well in his career and desperately needed some financial help and a job, which he seeked from Bepin babu. But Bepin babu did not help him in his crisis. So, Chunni Lal with the help of Parimal Ghoshe and Dinesh Mukherji made a story which made Bepin babu believe that he is having short term memory loss and even consulted a doctor.

They planned out a story of going to Ranchi, having a wife and children. This story totally shattered Bepin babu as he couldn't remember all of these. So, it devastated him mentally and hence Chunni Lal was successful in taking his revenge. Lastly Chunni Lal confessed in a letter, that it was a prank and Bepin's memory is alright.
