Suppose you mix 1 mol of sodium hydroxide, NaOH, with 1 mol of magnesium hydroxide,
Mg(OH)2. Why does the pH of the solution remain above 7?

both of these solutions are basic in nature as they contain OH- ions in them...

as they both are basic in the nature the whole solution becomes strong alkaline (highly basic in nature)

due to this reason the ph of the whole solution lies above 7.
